About Pace Fuelcare
A Strong Motor Fuels Heritage
The Pace brand has a strong heritage in the UK motor fuels market having originally been developed by the motor industry entrepreneur Victor Gauntlett in the early 1970's. By the time that the brand was acquired by the Kuwait Petroleum group in 1986 it had a strong presence in the retail motor fuels market in the South of England. The original Pace Petroleum was one of a number of companies purchased by Kuwait Petroleum when it entered the UK market in 1986.
History
The Pace brand has its origins in the 1970s. Pace petroleum was founded by Victor Gauntlett. The brand came into prominence when Gauntlett took a 50% stake in Aston Martin cars and Pace became involved in Motor racing sponsorship. The name was revived in 2004 and re-launched as a fresh, new Pace brand to meet the needs of the dealer market.
Pace Brand replaced Q8
The Kuwait Petroleum Group continued to develop the Pace brand during its time in the UK but the brand re-emerged as a significant presence in the retail fuels market in October 2004 when the Kuwait Petroleum Group sold their UK business and the Pace brand subsequently replaced the Q8 brand on the company's dealer network. The business has needed to adapt to the UK's continual changes within the petroleum market and the Pace brand has been re-designed, refreshed and re-launched to reflect this.
280 Company Owned Retail Sites
Pace Petroleum Limited is now part of the MRH (GB) Group and by virtue of its membership of this group counts the Malthurst Group of companies as a sister organisation. The combined businesses of Pace Petroleum and Malthurst (under the umbrella of the MRH Group) operate more than 280 company owned retail sites and act as a wholesale supplier to approximately 140 independent fuel retailers. The Group as a whole is responsible for supplying some 4% of the retail motor fuel sold in the UK.
Sales to Households
In addition, Pace Petroleum and its wholly owned subsidiary Pace Fuelcare operate a direct fuels business; servicing the domestic, agricultural, commercial and government sectors primarily in the South, West, Midland and East Anglia. Sales to households with oil fired boilers are conducted using the trading name of Fuelcare and the business supplies some 9% of all households using oil fired heating within our trading area; making us one of the market leaders for household heating oil in the south of England.
